5 Ways To Search For Jobs After Graduation

5 Ways To Search For Jobs After Graduation

Life after graduation is sometimes very challenging. Some undergraduates are victims of the belief that “life is a bed of rose”. Only to graduate and have their expectation shattered.

Oh! Don’t be sad, welcome to the real world where graduates are increasing in Geometric progression while job opportunities increase at Arithmetic progression.

Not that there are not jobs out there, but the competition is very high. This is why we have come up with 5 strategic ways to search for jobs after graduation.

If you are consistent with using the methods discussed in this article, you will get a good job in no time. But you need to have a positive mindset first.

Over 70 percent of job seekers out there, don’t understand how the Labor market works. How do you intend to get a good job, when you don’t even understand the Labor Market?

The act of job-hunting is a skill every graduate should master. Once you master this skill, you will be changing jobs like no man’s business.

I have seen people who did Master programs immediately after graduation, they are still unemployed. While first degree holders are progressing steadily in their career of choice.

In this article, you will learn how to search for jobs after graduation. Remember, Unemployment is Real. But you can still get a job in the competitive Labor Market.

#1. Sign Up With A Recruitment Agency

Signing up with a recruitment agency is a reliable strategy to search for jobs. As a matter of fact, I got my first job through a recruitment agency. Ever since then, I have been progressing steadily in my career.

Recruitment agencies act like middle men in the labor market. They connect graduates searching for jobs with employers looking for staff.

Most recruitment agencies will register your credentials on their data base, lookout for any role that suits your skills and send your CV to the company for an interview.

Once you are successful during the interview with the company, you will get the job. It is as easy as that.

#2. Use LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a professional social media platform that allows job seeker to search for job, showcase their skills, academic history as well as experience to potential employees.

The website has a section where companies advertise jobs. You can actually apply for any of the jobs there. Also, if you have a professional profile, companies may contact you for an interview based on your skills.

#3. Online Search

Online search is one of the easiest ways to search for jobs after graduation. Google search makes this easy.

You can just type the role you are looking for. To get a better result, you can narrow the search to a location. For instance, you can type “Business Development jobs in Lagos”.

#4. Talk To Your Mentor

If you have a mentor or career adviser, don’t fail to tell him/her that you are looking for job.

Who knows? They may know one or two persons who can help. The truth is, you need to try different options when searching for jobs.

#5. Reach Out To Your Connections

There are two types of currency in the Labor Market – Your Skills/Experience, and your connections.

If are exceptionally skillful with years of experience, your chances of getting a job is high. But the odds always favour people with connections.

Depending on who is referring you, you may not even attend any interview before you get a job.

That unemployment rate is high doesn’t mean that there are no jobs out there. But you have to be more strategic in your job search as the job market is competitive.

15 Tips on How to Stop Thinking About Someone Who Breaks Your Heart

15 Tips on How to Stop Thinking About Someone Who Breaks Your Heart

It can be very demoralizing when someone you love breaks up with you. There’s no way you will forget such a person in a hurry, especially if the break up wasn’t your fault. In this article, you will learn how to stop thinking about someone who breaks your heart.

Let me tell you the truth…
It’s difficult to stop thinking about someone you shared some cool romantic moments with. Also, it breaks the heart when you try to force yourself to forget someone. Trying to forget about someone is a cycle that’s often difficult to break.
Sometimes the more you try to stop thinking about the person who betrays your love, the more you think about them. Yeah, it’s that frustrating.
Many people ended up in depression just because they can’t stop thinking about their Ex. Some even end up committing suicide, thinking their life is worthless without the same person who breaks their hearts.
The good thing is, you can forget about anybody if you make up your mind to do it. That’s why we are here to guide you on how to stop thinking about someone you want to forget.
In the next, I’m going to share with you some useful tips that will help you forget about someone quickly.
If you are currently thinking about someone, I know how demoralizing and frustrating it can be. I have been there before, and it almost ruined me. And I don’t want it to destroy you.
Always remember that anybody who betrays your trust and love doesn’t deserve you. Do you know why? It’s because you are the best of your kind.

How to Stop Thinking About Someone Who Breaks Your Heart

Before I start sharing the tips, let me tell you a terrible heartbreak story about my friend. Her name is Rita. She had a boyfriend whom she loved so much. Unfortunately, the boy was only using her because he had someone he wanted to marry.
They dated for over three years. Rita was already living in the fantasy that Jordan (her boyfriend) is her future husband. She always had a mental image of how their marriage life will be like. In fact, she has planned her life around Jordan as she believed he is Mr. Perfect.
Sometimes, Rita and Jordan would sit together, brainstorming on possible names for their children. Yes, they were that crazy about each. Sadly, all the love Jordan professed for Rita was fake. He never truly loved her, and all the promises were false.
Heartbreakingly, Jordan had a serious girlfriend somewhere, and Rita was just a side chick. But Rita didn’t know on time. It was a few days to Jordan’s wedding that she knew.
She was devastated and broken and became a shadow of herself. She even attempted suicide on several occasions. Luckily, people were always there to save the situation.
However, she survived after a while and moved on. She’s happily married now with kids. If Rita can stop thinking about Jordan and move on, why can’t you? Without much ado, here are the tips on how to stop thinking about someone.

#1. Decide To Forget About The Person

Our first tip on how to stop thinking about someone is to forget about that person. It’s more complicated than it sounds. But if you make up your mind, you can achieve it.
How do you forget about the person? Assume he or she never exist in your life. Tell yourself the truth that it’s over between you guys, and you want to move on with your life.
It’s natural for some part of you to still long for that person. So, remind yourself that the person is in the past, it’s time to create a future without them.

#2. Officially Notify The Person That It’s Over

This is an area most people make mistakes. If you want to stop thinking about someone, start by ending things with them.
Whatever relationship you have with such a person should be ended. Do you know why? If you fail to end things officially, they will always come back and beg. Don’t forget that your ex-lover whom you dated for a while know your weak point.
But if you end things up with them, you can feel bad for a while. After this, you redirect your energy into something more creative. Inside of burying yourself in thoughts, you can look for something else to preoccupy your mind.

#3. Don’t Try To Forget Them At Once

As I mentioned earlier, forgetting someone doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a process. And if you try to ignore the person overnight, it could be counterproductive.
It’s still okay to miss the person. If possible, think about the good old days you had with them. But this shouldn’t last for more than a few days. Otherwise, depression may be inevitable.
After the first few days of missing him or her, move on with your life. Always remember that before you met that person, you were doing excellently. And you and going to do even more after you leave.
Again, don’t forget that they are countless people out there who are better than the person who breaks your heart. With these thoughts, you can move on quickly.

#4. Divert Your Thought to Something or Someone Else

I think this is one of the best tips on how to stop thinking about someone, instead of wasting your time thinking about someone who betrayed your love. You could actually divert such thoughts to someone else. It could be a childhood friend or someone who has been there for you.
What I usually do is to think of the beautiful people around who are always there for me. It could be my mom, siblings, friends, or colleagues. Once you divert your thoughts to these people, you can forget about the ungrateful fellow who breaks your heart quickly.

#5. Avoid Having Contact With Them By All Means

The easiest way to forget about someone is when you stop contacting them. If you are trying to erase someone from your memory, resist every urge to contact that person.
It doesn’t matter if it’s through phone calls, text messages, or meeting them one on one. If you can do this, you will forget that person faster than you can imagine. But if you keep bumping into them, the possibility of forgetting about that person is slim.

#6. Don’t Blame Yourself For What Happen

It’s normal for you to feel guilty about what happened. I know you think that if you were more diplomatic, the person wouldn’t have left. But the truth is, whoever will go will always leave.
It doesn’t matter how nice you are to them; they will always cheat or betray your truth in the slightest opportunity. So, instead of demoralizing your spirit with guilt, why don’t you cheer up. Or don’t you know that it takes two to tangle? If your partner can’t fight for the relationship, why blaming yourself.
If you keep blaming yourself, you will end up getting depressed. And you know what that means? You will have low self-esteem.
Again, if you are already blaming yourself too much about the entire breakup, engage in things that will make you happy. You can decide to see an exciting movie or stream funny videos online.

#7. Dwell More On Their Negative Traits

Remember the last time you saw caught pants down cheating on you? What about the lies he told you about his job? Or have you forgotten that he’s lazy and only good at beating people?
Well, a great tip on how to stop thinking about someone is to dwell more on such a person’s negative traits. Was he a chronic womanizer? Pathetic liar, or an aggressive young man?
If you can refocus your thoughts along with the person’s negative trait, you will dislike everything about him. The thoughts of such a person will irritate you.
Remember, anybody who breaks your heart will always want to come back for amends. He or she will ask for a second chance. And time like this, you may be confused and want to fall in love with them again. Just ruminate on their flaws, and you will be able to forget them once and for all.

#8. If Possible Stay Offline For A While

I mentioned earlier that you should avoid any form of contact with the person. Online platforms are not exempted. Try to block or unfollow them across different social media platforms. Otherwise, seeing their activities online will make the whole scenario worst.
Don’t forget that keeping the distance is vital when trying to forget someone.

#9. Change Environment For A While If Possible

Getting out of town is another useful tip on how to stop thinking about someone. When you change the environment, you can take a break from everything, including the person you are trying to forget.
If you are still in the same location, there is the possibility of you seeing things that always remind you of such a person. But a different environment will give you a better perspective. You could make new friends and preoccupy your mind with other essential issues.

#10. Keep Yourself Busy

In the words of George Carling, “never allow the brain Idle for an Idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” Indeed, you must have heard of those words somewhere.
Staying idle is a big mistake when you are trying to stop thinking about someone. No matter how much you try, in as far you are idle, your thoughts will always find their way to the person you are trying to forget.
But if you are busy, the chances of you thinking about that person is very slim. For this reason, try to keep yourself busy. Playing games and reading exciting novels could help.

#11. Spend More Time With Your Friends

Spending time with your friend helps a lot when your heart bleeds from heartbreak. And if your friends aren’t as boring as mine, you could stop thinking about the person who betrays your love quickly.
I’m sure you have some of those crazy friends on your list. I mean those people who will make you smile even if you are in the worst state of mind. Well, it’s time to activate them because they will be instrumental in helping you forget someone easily.

#12. Avoid Romantic Movies If You Can

Watching movies like The Notebook, Titanic, Romeo, and Juliet, etc. is a bad idea when you are trying to forget someone. These movies will activate their thoughts on your mind. You will unconsciously be thinking about the right time you have spent with them. And we both know it is not a good omen.

#13. Tell Yourself That They Have Moved On

Another good tip on how to stop thinking about someone is to tell yourself that they have moved on. Remind yourself that it’s a reality, the person is never coming back. It’s time to move on and do something good with yourself. If these thoughts keep coming to your mind, you are on the verge of forgetting that person.

#14. Never Talk About The Person While With Your Friends

The more you talk about someone you are trying to forget, the more you think about them. Even if your friends try to come up with the conversation, always avoid it. You may find it difficult to resist the urge of not talking about the person who breaks your heart, but avoiding the topic is a better option.

#15. Pretend to be Having Fun, Even though you are not

I’m sure you don’t want to give them the impression that you can’t live without them. Just pretend to be having fun with your friends and family. Go to beautiful places and force happiness out of you. Over time, you will eventually forget about everything and move on.
Like I mentioned earlier, forgetting someone doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. But if you follow our tips here, you will learn how to stop thinking about someone who breaks your heart.
Nobody is worth killing yourself over. When someone leaves you, another one will always come. That’s the beauty of relationships. And before you do anything drastic because someone breaks your heart. Always remember that nothing truly lasts forever. Even the best love stories we have heard never lasted forever.

20 Things Every Nigerian Guy Hates In A Relationship

20 Things Every Nigerian Guy Hates In A Relationship

Love comes in many forms, and navigating the complexities of relationships can be a challenge. Ladies, as you know what you want and do not want in a relationship, you should also know what your man wants and do not want in a relationship.

Nigerian men, like anyone else, have their own preferences and dealbreakers when it comes to love.

For you not to eat unnecessary breakfast even though everyone must eat breakfast, you must take note of the things your guy might find frustrating or incompatible in a relationship.

Well, life no balance, so it's crucial to remember these are not universal truths. Every relationship is unique, and open communication is key to a happy and fulfilling partnership.

These ten tips will guard you and open your eyes to some things that can break or maim your relationship:

1. Disrespect:

All men want to be respected by their partners. This includes being treated kindly and having their opinions considered. Even when you don't agree with them, you don't have to make it known in a rude manner.

2. Constant nagging

No one likes to be nagged at all the time. If you have an issue with your man, it's best to communicate it calmly and directly.

It is good to complain cutely, but it is not good to complain too much. You constantly complaining about your friend, work, past relationship and some other unnecessary things that can piss him off and make him serve you breakfast.

3. Lack of communication:

Communication is key in any relationship. If you're not talking to each other, it's going to be hard to stay connected. From the outside, your man might seem like someone who doesn't fancy deep conversations, he actually does. But maybe not the one you start with: "baby, we need to talk"

4. A gold digger:

Guys prefer a partner who values them for who they are, not what they can provide financially. Every man eye don open now oh.

5. Excessive jealousy:

A little jealousy is normal, but if it's constant and controlling, it can be suffocating.

6. Being clingy:

It's important to give your partner some space. If you're with them all the time, they may start to feel smothered.

7. Putting them down in public:

No one likes to be embarrassed in front of others. If you have a problem with your partner, deal with it in private.

8. Not being supportive of their goals:

Everyone wants to feel supported by their partner. If you're not cheering your guy on, he may eventually start to resent you.

9. Taking them for granted:

Don't forget to show your appreciation for your partner. Tell them you love them, do nice things for them, and make them feel special.

10. Spending too much time on your phone

Instagram babe, have you forgotten that as you give your phone too much attention, your zaddy also needs the same amount of attention and care?

Babe, must you spend too much time on your phone, ignoring your man and depriving him of absolute attention. More so, it is very disrespectful to be on your phone whenever you two are together. Do that when he is not with you!

11. Always bringing up past mistakes:

Everyone makes mistakes. If you can't forgive your partner for something they did in the past, it's going to be hard to move forward.

12. Hiding your emotions

You, why should you hide your feelings from him? In a relationship, babe you have to be transparent. Let him be able to see through you, do not be emotionally distant. You hiding your real feeling can outrightly turn your man off. Let him know your feelings and fix things up rather than keep to yourself.

13. Being overly dependent

Guys do not like when a lady is over-dependent on them. You as a lady must be able to think and arrive at your own decision, try out new things and let him know that his babe is capable.

14. Not being dogged

My lady, be strong-willed and do not just take anything he throws at you. Know want you want and go for it. Guys do not like pushovers.

15. Being in touch with you ex

Guys hate competition and they tend to get jealous when you are still in touch with your ex. Why not forget your ex and put him in your past? Why bring the old to the new? Cut all ties with your ex and give your heart fully to your present man.

16. Being too needy

Good guys love to spoil their girl with gifts and money, but they hate when their babe is so needy and materialistic. Don’t solely depend on him for money; you can also take him out shopping and spoil him with love. He is your lover and not your ATM.

17. Being bossy

No matter how you crave to be in control or to have the upper hand, don’t try to be bossy around your guy. A guy loves to be in control and hates to be told what to do. He is not your puppy, but your man. So, be guided!

18. Comparing your Relationship with other relationships

Guys do not like to hear a woman comparing their relationship with other people’s relationships. Here are some comparisons that infuriate guys.

Bola and her man always go on a trip on weekends, why don’t we go. All my friend’s boyfriends have a private jet, why don’t you get yours?

19. Not keeping it sexy

This does not refer to wearing sexy lingerie in the bedroom or having sex. My point is to do things that are sexy. Sexy things like cooking together, washing together, playing cards together, losing your hair, him plaiting your hair and checking out your outfit.

5 Ways to Deal With Depression as a Student

5 Ways to Deal With Depression as a Student

As a student there is usually turmoil and lots of events that can lead to depression. You could have lost a loved one, you could have lost money in a venture you invested in. In fact, you may not have help as touching feeding and upkeep, it may be your grades that are down and you feel you are either going to drop out or kicked out of school, it may be that your finances are nothing to write home about and there is no one to help you. Or you are looking at the future and it seemed so bleak and everything is falling apart. Did the one you love broke your heart. You may have been abused in any manner. These situations and many more has led many into mental ill health.

Here are 5 ways to help yourself rise from depression:

1. Help others.

This popular hashtag, #WeRiseByLiftingOthers that started trending with Davido is not just a social media trend. It is the actual truth, if you actually can think about others and reach out to them selflessly to help them, you will not be overburdened by yours.

You will actually discover that people are going through worse situations but are still moving on. I am not saying the situation you are facing is good, what I am saying is that the less you focus on yourself and your problems. The less you worry about them and you will be surprised that your needs will be met too by others. Look out for someone else and give someone hope out there. Even if it seems you have no hope, sometimes talking to someone else about your circumstances can encourage you and that individual.

2. Get closer to God

God is the ultimate creator, He is aware of our every need and pain. Whatever religion or sect you follow seek God genuinely and have a relationship with Him. Draw closer to God through genuine channels. He cares about you.

3. Seek help

Mental awareness is something a lot of people are talking about. Mental health, dealing with emotions, thoughts and mindsets are issues that come up. Forgiving yourself and helping yourself heal is necessary in some cases. You have to recognise that depression is a mental health issue and you need help in getting out of that state. Non governmental organisations like Asido and the likes offer services like counselling and so on. You can reach out to them, also you can speak to an older trustworthy person who can advice you or encourage you. Taking drugs or living in denial will not help you. Get help.

4. Surround yourself with people who care about you.

Build a support system that understands you. A group of two or three friends you can cry with, a group of family members that will listen to you. It may even vary so you don't feel like burdening anyone. Join support groups that deal with depression and therapy. Even if you feel alone reach out to someone and if there is no one, then back to number 2 on this blog. Do not keep your tears, worries, hurt, pain or emotions bottled up, open up to people and to God.

5. Journal and Meditation

Meditate on positive things, concentrate on little things that can change your life. Are you struggling with debt or addiction or are your grades falling apart? Do you feel unloved, rejected and unwanted? Have you been betrayed or everyone has pushed you aside. Get a Journal, a book and write how you feel, write what you think can help you. Start small, record little victories, write out the things you love about yourself.

Express your emotions in art or drawing or writing in your journal and get in touch with your emotions. Read through each entry once in a while to get feedback on how you are coping.

Remember you are never alone 💙💙.

CAMPUS TORI: 6 Romantic Places in the University of Ibadan

Hi. Welcome to Campus Tori. We just launched this Column on Campus Verve to provide first class entertainment and comic gists and stories on Campuses in Nigerian Varsites. Sit, Enjoy and Hit the share links below to share with your friends!

Hello my people! If you hear say E don happen, E don happen be that o. This Corona Bambus abi na virus of a thing don affect all of us wey be students so tey, we go just sit-down at home; dey press phone from morning till night. We con dey lonely as if we be singles 😛.

I dey sure say, the major reason why many of us dey miss school no be because of classes, grades or exams. Na because of that babe or guy wey you don dey eye 😉 abi knack 🙄 for school. My brother, my sister, E go be!

I'll be bringing back hilarious, amazing and thrilling experiences and spots from school to our memories again this break. Today, I'll be doing a list of places where Romance go open in the University of Ibadan. It's the scope of the Romantic Ambience of the School.

For Fresh Students who have not resumed school yet, you may not find this as fun as it should be. Just hang on💓😀, continue and get experiences before hand.

#1. Indomie Stand : I resumed school as a freshman sometimes last year. You know, as a fresher, you'd want to explore and tour round school and of course, have fun to its fullest, because for some of us, this might be the first opportunity we'd have to be away from parents and exposed to 100% freedom.

These I did, but it almost went wrong 😂.

The first week of Resumption was kinda free. Registrations weren't going seriously as expected and classes had nor started either. I went out one a fateful day to tour, I saw an indomie Stand and walked in to eat, tho, I wasn't hungry 😎. I met two ladies seated opposite me. I thought I was in my village or street, so I greeted them calmly and offered to buy them food and drinks. They agreed sharp sharp. 🤦🙆.

After the order was placed, then I just realized that I intended eating there too 😩. But by this time, I had exhausted all the money on me. I spent 3k as a Father Christmas on strangers I've not set my eyes upon till now. I strongly doubt if they were freshers 😂💔.

The indomie Stand at the back of the Independence Hall, and very close to Queen Idia Hall, is a wonderful place for open Romance in UI. It's usually filled up with students at nights especially (and of course, students in pairs 🤤). If you go here as a guy, something will push you to spend 😣 (like ikr), but I'd advise you to spend wisely. Some girls have no chills 🤐.

#2. You and I food building (U & I) : usually, Students in pairs are seen in large numbers in front of the Queen Idia Hall gate - these ones are LEGENDS. The very shy ones are the ones who move downwards towards the U & I food building area or the passengers' shed.

Along this axis, a lot of smooching, fondling and scenes could take place. The gloomy and cold breeze offered by the tall trees around here makes these activities easy and concealed.

I sincerely haven't had any experiences here 😑🤨😂😂. But I suppose the number of students that loom around here are majorly Zikites, Katangites, Awoites and Idiaties. I have no doubts about Idiaties - na their hall 🤨.

#3. Awo Hall driveway: And yes! We're here! There's a belief in UI that most of the ladies in Awo hall are potential wife materials, and ladies here are mannered and well cultured. So if a hall is full of wife materials (100 yards fah 😂), potential suitors must be seen lurking around such vicinity.

It's not that I come here too, but I... 😎😎🤤😋, You should understand!

What brings most guys here (from all the male halls) is seeing their ladies off or Walking them down from school area at night. Tho, some normally schedule meetings 😜. Most of the 'seeing off'usually lead to 30minutrs or more discussion along the driveway.

You know, UI is Known for learning and discipline. I love the way the night watch men at Awo hall flash their Torchlights at the students in pairs - normally, that's an indication for males to leave the vicinity.

#4. TECH Road: this is one of the most silent places in UI, especially in the evenings and night. I'll call it an offshoot of escapades from Awo hall driveway and U & I food building. People mostly end their conversations here. Tho, some friends normally hang around here intentionally. It's usually interesting to see sights and hear sounds of love display from people.

There's a building of the Food Technology Department here, also the Admissions Office which has an open space - lovers can be seen chasing themselves around here sometimes and even sit in the drainages here 😪😂. A lot of smooching happens around here.

#5. Faculty of Education: let's go a little far from hostels area to school area. Faculty of Education road leads from the back of The Mosque and The Chapel downwards to am imaginary dead end 😂☠️. It is usually lonely in the evenings and nights too and it's a welcomed area for lovers walk and strolling. Coming here with your bae/boo will just be your own version of the"long walk to freedom" 🤡. This is a nice avenue to talk over and settle disputes or conflicts in relationships.

#6. SUB Car Park: we could be right to say that the Students Union Building is situated at the centre and heartbeat of the University. My assertion here could just be a dignified guess because the Students Union Building is very close to major locations in school are and some halls of residences too.

At nights, the Car Park in SUB is usually full of students and of course, in pairs. You know, the Students Union Buildings in higher institutions are usually the mostly lively and scintillating place of attraction. Some evenings are blessed with Trade Fairs from different brands, companies and businesses. Most times, when there's a product/brand display, DJs are invited and some grills guys. The vibe is usually present here and makes here interesting to spend with a partner. I sometimes come around here - with nobody tho 😑😂 to clear my head and relax.

×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××

I know my list didn't capture some other places - that's why I created a comments section. Let me know about these places and let's share memories and experiences too! 😁

CAMPUS TORI: Which School Fine Pass? [UNILAG]

Hi. Welcome to Campus Tori. We just launched this Column on HelloKampus to provide first class entertainment and comic gists and stories on Campuses in Nigerian Varsites. Sit, Enjoy and Hit the share links below to share with your friends!

Today, I'll be taking you round Nigerian Campuses to see beauty and architectural designs of Buildings in the school. If you think say na your school fine pass, come rep your school under the comments section 😂.

AERIAL SHOTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS.

Ever wondered why it is called 'The University of first choice and nation's pride'? Well Unilag is a beautiful edifice and compared to others, have done well in maintaining that standard. Although much can still be done.

Despite the small land mass of just a little above 800 hectares-makiing it the smallest fedreral university in size-Unilag still stands out in the midst of others just like how Lagos stands out in the midst of other states despite being the smallest state in size. No wonder it has the highest number of notable Alumni.

If you're in doubt of these pictures, take a visit to Yaba and see for yourself .  wink
